Sonora, California — A vandal was captured by a security camera in a Sonora store, leading to his arrest.

Last week, Sonora police received a report from the Sonora cigarette shop in the 1100 block of Mono Way, which reported that the front window of the shop was damaged. After the police arrived, a shop assistant recounted that a man was holding a jar of jelly and trying to buy some goods with a Save Mart Supermarket gift card. When the employee told the man that he could only pay with cash or credit card, the suspect was very upset and left.

Once outside, the clerk said that the man suddenly started screaming and cursing at employees. He allegedly then threw the glass jar containing the jelly to the front window and broke it. Then he fled the scene. The police officer checked whether the object was in the area, but was nowhere to be found. When viewing the surveillance video, the suspect was identified and determined to be 38-year-old Danny James Norton, a passer-by.

The next day, the police officer caught up with Norton, still wearing the same clothes as in the video. When asked about the initial damage, Jr. Norton denied breaking the window and said he did not remember. As the interview continued, he tried to blame other people for the broken windows, claiming that he saw someone running next to the store, but he didn't see them. Norton Jr. was arrested for felony vandalism and released on bail of $15,000.
